The 6R-Principle

A lived Culture of Care in animal research recognises three additional principles beside the well-known 3R´s (Replacement/Reduction/Refinement): Reproducibility and the two core elements of responsibility and respect.

Hence, the implementation of this extended 6R principle-concept in animal research, confirms the self-commitment to meet the legal and societal requirements with regard to animal protection and animal welfare. Furthermore, this extension also takes into account our own ethical standards in treating our research animals.
